The Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering (GIBMTE) is a dynamic and globally oriented teaching and research institute with interdisciplinary capabilities. Affiliated with the College of Biomedical Engineering at Taipei Medical University, GIBMTE is committed to imparting extensive foundational knowledge in fields such as materials science, biomedical materials, tissue engineering, stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, reconstruction, drug delivery systems, bio-sensors, medical device design, and other cutting-edge areas. Our educational approach encompasses innovative research and technology introductions in these domains.

Interdisciplinary Teaching Excellence

GIBMTE stands out for its interdisciplinary teaching excellence and internationalization. We strive to provide a broad spectrum of foundational knowledge and introduce innovative and advanced research and technologies in collaboration with clinicians.

Industry-Academia Collaboration

Our faculty members bring rich translational medical expertise, engaging closely with both domestic and international biotech companies for collaborative research and development. Not only do we actively participate in industry-academia collaboration, but we also establish startup companies to implement applied solutions derived from our research. Our curriculum includes opportunities for students to interact and learn from Taiwan's industry professionals, gaining insights into the trends of the biotechnology and medical sectors.

Internationalization

GIBMTE embraces internationalization as a distinctive feature. With a diverse faculty that includes foreign professors, the majority of our courses are conducted in English. A substantial proportion of our graduate students are international, fostering a multicultural learning environment. Collaborative research initiatives and dual-degree programs with renowned foreign universities further enhance the international exposure of our students.

Clinical Integration and Dual Mentorship System

Built upon Taipei Medical University's healthcare system, GIBMTE employs a dual advisor system. Clinical practitioners serve as co-advisors, fostering close integration of teaching, research, and clinical practice. Students also have the option to select international co-advisors, expanding their global perspectives and research capabilities.

Cultivation of Humanities and Social Responsibility

Beyond professional competence, GIBMTE is dedicated to nurturing individuals with rich humanities and a sense of social responsibility. We encourage students to contribute their knowledge to society, elevating overall health and well-being. Graduates are not only expected to excel technically but also to apply their knowledge to address current medical and biomedical challenges, making substantial contributions to the field.

As the Director of GIBMTE, I extend a warm welcome to those who choose to join our institute. We are committed to providing a stimulating and rewarding learning environment, equipping students with the skills and insights necessary for a successful and impactful professional career."
